Cecelia was born on February 28, 1938 in Repulse Bay. When Cecelia was a young girl she often heard the women sing traditional songs. She began singing them years ago and continues to at drum dance celebrations.

In 1953 she married Luke Angutialuk from Perry River. After the couple married they traveled back and forth by dog sled between Perry River and Repulse Bay for many years before finally settling in Repulse Bay. Cecelia remembered, “Sometimes the weather turned bad so we would build an igloo and stay in it until the weather improved.”

The couple adopted all 5 of their children from other families, 4 boys and 1 girl. Luke passed away in 2009.

Cecelia only eats traditional food which she enjoys with tea. In the summer her sons provide her with caribou, narwhale, seal and fish. In the winter she eats mainly fish and seal.
